Why do you or your family want a dog?

The puppy I have now LOVES other dogs. I want a companion for her and also for my husband and I. My husband is in the Marine Corp, he is being deployed eventually. We are looking for a larger dog as a watch dog. My husband has ALWAYS wanted a ridgeback. We both love to run and exercise so also want a running buddy. We just moved into a brand new home with a huge fenced in yard so our new puppy or dog will be very happy with us! I have always had dogs growing up and we need just one more to make our family complete!
