Just to tell you a little more about us. We have been breeding these gentle giants for almost 14 years and I tell you we couldn't have been more blessed over the years. We have never had a pup returned due to any genetic defects and have not had any hip, heart, or thyroid issues arise with any of my Danes. Our oldest adult is 12 years old this year and is a young 12 years old. We mostly now specialize in European and Partial European Danes for two reasons, one we feel the American Great Dane in many cases have been mis-bred and are no longer resembling the original European look that the Great Dane should have, they have become too tall and lanky and a lot of them have lost the nice large block heads and lips. Of course this is not the case with all American bred Danes just a good deal of them. Not too mention we have learned over the years that the European Danes tend to live longer and have fewer health issues also as European breeders are held to a much higher standard when it comes to breeding within Europe.
We take pride in what we do and do a lot of research in the bloodlines before we purchase any Danes. We specifically research health of the lines and longevity of them. We stick to the AKC standards of breeding for both conformation and color. We also health test all of my adults before we breed them. We may not have official OFA, PennHip or CERF certs on everyone prior to breeding them but at the very least have x-rays done on hips & elbows as well as have heart, thyroid & eye exams done beforehand. All of our Danes live within the home, are well trained, and temperamentally sound. They get only the best of care and treatment and are completely spoiled. I have to admit sometimes I wish I could be one of our Danes, LOL
Our pregnant females are started on a premium puppy food as well as given Animal Naturals K9 Puppy Gold from the moment that they are bred. We have a whelping room set up in a guest bedroom of our home that is directly across from my bedroom. I stay and sleep in the whelping room with mom from the time she starts whelping until pups are almost 3 weeks of age and begin to wean. Pups are handled daily from birth up until the time they leave, at no time are our puppies placed and left outside. They have 2 separate areas the whelping area of which they will stay in until they are about 3 & 1/2 to 4 weeks old then they are moved to what we call the toddler area in the home where they will begin learning crate training. This room also has an area where they may play, an area for them to eat and a potty area. Pups are also worked with on name recognition at this time and if we still have them after 8 weeks begin basic obedience and leash training. They are well socialized with other dogs (small & large), children and sometimes cats. They are vet checked and have dew claws removed at 3 days old, they are started on a premium holistic puppy food formulated for Great Danes at 3 weeks of age, they are given a parvo booster shot at 4 weeks, a 5 way booster at 6 weeks and every 3 weeks after that until they leave. They are also wormed every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks of age. Pups come with a puppy starter kit that includes collar, leash, sample of puppy food, chew toy, treats and health record, they also come with a 2 year health guarantee as well as Lifetime breeder support. All pups are also micro chipped prior to leaving.
