Description of Puppy
Black collar boy is really laid back and easy going. He loves to snuggle. He is the darkest colored puppy of this litter.
Our puppies are ready to go home when they are 8 weeks of age. They will be micro-chipped and will have their first vaccinations. Dawn's litter will be ready to go home the week before Mother's Day, and Jasmine's the day after Memorial Day. We do early potty training and introduce the puppies to a doggy door before they leave, but you will need to teach them how to ask you to go outside, and you will need to have patience while training them. They cannot fully control their bladders until they are close to 12-14 weeks of age. It will be your responsibility to "catch" your puppy in the act and dash it outside. A couple catches by you, and the puppy will understand better where he/she is expected to go potty.
Once we have a litter, we don't pick puppies until AFTER our trainer performs the Vollhard puppy aptitude test sometime around 7 weeks of age (the older the puppy, the more accurate the test is). We base our picks first and foremost on personality as we truly believe that if your new dog's personality is a match to your family, you will be much happier than if your puppy happens to be the curliest, straightest, darkest, lightest, smallest, largest, male or female, etc. puppy. Labradoodles are consistently wonderful family dogs ranging from calm to active, from dependent to independent, from motivated to lazy, yet they all have their cuddling times, and they are all wicked smart and learn quickly.
We do allow visitors at any point in time, but puppies don't get handled until they are over 3 weeks, and we do ask that you take precautions to avoid bringing diseases into our home when we have a litter of puppies: do not visit a vet, a pet store, or another breeder before visiting our home. Parvo is highly contagious and can easily be transferred through shoes, touching, etc. Puppies do not receive their first vaccination until 8 weeks of age, and have no immunity to many diseases before this.
We strive to have the best socialized puppies. They're raised with my daycare baby, my 3 children, all of their friends, plus we live very close to a grade school, the middle school, and the high school here in Laurel. When the weather is decent, the puppies are in the front yard as school is getting out, and they get TONS of socializing from all ages of kids--younger ones picking up brothers and sisters, all the school age children, and many of the parents. They are also exposed to a huge variety of vehicles and noises--especially the nice loud buses. I found out recently that our home is called "the dog house" by most of Laurel, lol.
If you are interested in one of our puppies, please fill out our puppy application. If we approve your application and you decide to place a deposit, I will place your name on our waiting list (if you do not wish your name to be used, we will not). Puppies are picked in the order deposits are received. I will send you our Puppy Personality Poll to help us better understand exactly what you are looking for in a puppy before aptitude testing is done. If we end up not having what you are looking for, we have no problem refunding your deposit. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or write.
