Our beautiful big red boy, Herman, needs a family who spends time at home.

He is house-trained, and kennel-trained, but will need a large contained area to run, play and dig. Herman loves children, especially boys. He gets along OK with most dogs, but would want to be the alpha dog. He loves to ride in the car or truck, sleep in his kennel- weather permitting. He has a thin coat so he can't stay outside all the time. He is gentle with the inside cats. He has a strong personality, is very determined and needs an owner who understands hound dogs, and is a confident, patient, experienced dog handler. While he is very gentle and loving with his family, he would also protect and be a great guard dog to have. Other dogs are sometimes afraid of him because of his size. He is 90 pounds of muscle. Herman would make the perfect companion for a retired person or a stay at home mom and would love to have someone with him most of the time. He was a stray when we rescued and neutered him. We believe he was a hunting dog prior to winding up at the animal shelter where we rescued him. He is neutered and up to date on shots. Crate, kennel and doghouse included.
