I recently rescued a wonderful Lhassapo named "Boy". I am amazed at the fact that he doesn't seem to be walked outside (bathroom breaks) very often. In fact, it scares me. When we got up at 7am, he was walked and did not "go". I took him out 20 minutes later and he did not "go. Any ideas? I try to walk him every two hours during the day (until I learn his routine), but he doesn't always need to "go".

I have had my Lhassapo over a year and she still isnt potty trained. She is taken out many times a day. And she will come right in and mess in the house. She is very stubborn too. Maybe a training class may help. I regret not doing one when we first got her! Good luck!

It has been my experience that all dogs are the same in that they would rather "go" outside. However, all dogs are different in how long it takes to accustom them to this practice. Basically, it's up to the owner. Dogs will follow the routine you give them so for best results you have to be consistent and they will adapt. It's hard for us to be completely consistent so a few times a week our Lhasapoo will go inside. But over the years she has learned to hold it in and will actually come tell us she needs to go outside. Sometimes she goes right away, sometimes she likes to sniff around for 10-15 min until she goes.

Your lhaspoo is just getting used to his surroundings, give him time and be patient, he is learning your routine now.
