My cavachon is 6 months old and has been the perfect pet. We have left him out in the house when we are gone for a short time and recently he decided to chew our carpet! He recently lost a couple of baby teeth, can this be the reason for his new found choice of carpet instead of his toys? He's back in the crate until we can find a solution. Any ideas?

Try clicker training or try fencing your cavachon off from the carpet area.

I agree with the last post. However, for the meantime, if you can, remove the carpet if you're able to, but if it's a fixed carpet and not an area rug type, definitely put your pup somewhere else without carpeting if possible. Crate training in this case would be very good, since it's meant to keep the pup out of trouble...as for eating things that are not appropriate, give the pup some pureed pumpkin (not pie filling, actual pumpkin) his help to pass the item, anything more dangerous please take the pup to a Vet.

Give your cavachon rawhides to chew on or KONG Classic Dog Toys, or KONG® Puppy Toy for Beginning Chewers from Petsmart.
