Our male cavapoo is almost 3. At about a yr he was aggressive toward men in hats, in the last few months it's been any new male and the last few weeks, he's nipped at my niece and nephew when they are walking away or sitting next to my kids. We have an appt w/ the vet this week to discuss issues. Any suggestions. We do not want to wait until he actually bites someone. Help please.

I would consult a reliable dog trainer and your vet. If your about is experiencing health issues or in pain, that may cause aggressiveness. Was the dog well socialized as a pup?

Sounds to me like a dominance issue it sees the kids as lower in the pack order - you should get strangers to come in give the dog a treat and ignore it - (also get your newphew and nieces to make them sit \ lie down and reward with treats) - If you make a fuss then the dog is getting the attention it is after by behaving like this. After a while the dog should stop - its not really in the breed to be aggressive - My dogs hate me wearing a hat so i started doing their tricks and giving treats whilst wearing it - they soon stopped growling.
