I'm concerned with leaving my pomchi in the crate for a few hours while I'm at work. What is the worst that can happen? and how will this affect the owner/pet relationship?

I have a 9 week old pomchi and I work across town, my pomchi is usually crated at least 8-9 hours during the week. He seems to be doing ok, so far...
