Insofar as peekapoo parentage, what is the difference between a puppy whose mother is a purebred peke and the father is a purebred poodle VS. a puppy whose mother is a purebred poodle and the father is a purebred peke? What are the distinguishing characteristics of puppies of these different parentages?

There isn't any difference between which parent is which. Be careful though if one parent is an actual peke-a-poo. Some breeders try to breed out the "peke" part by breeding a peke-a-poo with a pure bred poodle. Others will try to breed out the "poo" by breeding a peke-a-poo with a pur bred Peke. Poodles have a tendency to be hyper with a curly coat. Pekes can be a bit more tempermental but have a silky, glossy coat. The best temperment is when you have an equal mix of both breeds.
