Hello I just received a peke-chi as a gift for my son. She seems very timid and sweet. I was an owner for 14 years to THE BEST cocker spaniel and I am clueless about this dog breed. So any info you can give me on this cross breed would be great. Will she be a major shedder? Will she do well with my son who is 4 months now? Will she be difficult to train? Is she a dog that will constantly be sick? Is there something I should look out for? How is her life span? Thanks again -Kelly-

Yes, the dog will be a major shedder. The dog should do fine with your son, but you must train the dog to respect children and when your child is old enough to teach him to respect dogs. The Pekingese/Pomeranian mix breed of dog is of low-average intelligence, so consistency is the best thing for training for this breed as they can be hard to train. There is no indication that your dog will be sick all the time, but there are health problems with the two breeds. The average life-span would be 12 - 15 years.
