My malshi is very stubborn about potty training. He is 5 months old and still makes accidents on the carpet. In a month i will be leaving him home alone and don't know how to train him. is it too late for potty training for a 5 month?

These small breeds are very slow to housebreak, BUT malshi's can be housebroken and once they are, they're terrific - don't be surprised if it takes smaller a year or longer. However, if you are concerned, check with your vet to be sure that the pup doesn't have bladder infection, etc. Keep at it, watch him closely and reward when he goes where you want.

Be proactive in taking him outside. Praise your malshi with treats when he goes. While most people say they are hard to potty trian, ours was not. We used the bell method. Teaching him to ring the bell when he has to go outside and then praising him when we goes with a treat. The bell method worked for us at least 90% of the time when ours was 10 weeks old. After a few short weeks later, we have not had any "accidents".
