I am in the process of buying a maltipoo puppy. The breeder said that the mom is a maltipoo and the father is a Maltese. Is this the right way to breed and its not a 1st generation maltipoo?

It's one way of breeding maltipoos, though first generation breeding seems to be preferred. Just be aware that this puppy will probably exhibit more maltese characteristics than poodle.

Yes, it's pretty normal and poodles with Maltipoo's are also bred, it depends on which trait you are more attracted to and as long as you are happy that's all it matters.
