I am having my 6 month old Maltipoo pup neutered. My Vet is recommending extracting baby teeth if necessary and says Malitpoo's have dental problems. Is this standard practice these days? It's been a long time since I have owned a dog but isn't something they did years ago.... It's hugely expensive

When I had my RESCUED maltipoo spayed, they removed 7 retained baby teeth. I had the surgery done at a local animal shelter by a reputable veterinarian. He only charged $50 to remove all 7 retained teeth.

At the time of spaying/neutering, it should only cost an extra small fee (from $50 to $150) but that depends on the vet fees, it should be recommended ONLY if your Maltipoo is having issues with his/her teeth development. Otherwise they are naturally replaced by the adult ones.

I have a 7 month female maltipoo. She was recently spayed and during her operation, the vet also took out her baby teeth. Her mouth healed in just a few days and she's been doing a lot less teething and chewing. Definitely worth it. The best of luck to you and your pup!
