Yes. Black is a dominant gene and red is a recessive gene that modifies black. So, your apricot dog is "black" but with a recessive modifying gene that turns its coat is red color.
Your puppies probably got the black gene from their mom but did not get the recessive apricot modifying gene from both parents, so they came out just black. :)
