We have had three German Shepherds over the past 30 years, and due to my health decided to "down-size" to a medium Goldendoodle. My first impression was that our pup required more attention (true) and wasn't as quick to potty train, but that is comparing his 6-8 accidents to our GS's 1-2. So probably not fair. :-) However, at 6 months, our Goldendoodle is simply wonderful. Smart, fun to groom, loves to walk (a good thing for me too) and has learned commands in both English and French. I have invested a lot of time during the past four months, but wow, has it paid off. Puppy classes and exposure to a variety of experiences, dogs, and children work wonders. He is so loving. A beautiful dog, who is also therapeutic to pet - he is incredibly soft. Love the army crawl, the "catch-me-if-you-can' games, and kisses. Good choice. I miss our German Shepherds but you can always learn to love a new pup! I couldn't ask for a better companion!
