Part 1: I had a Goldendoodle and she was the absolute best dog that we could have ever asked for. she did not have any problems as a puppy and was loyal, friendly and smart. when she was about 4 years old we noticed that she was getting sores on her skin and itching all the time. we took her to the vet who thought that it was allergies and so he put her on steroids and food allergy medication and we switched for dog food to see if that was the cause. After about a year with little improvement we took her to a different vet who ran blood work and we found out in November that she had cancer that affected her immune system. she was only 6 years old and she was a trooper through the chemo and all of her different medications and tried to continue her daily routines and remained at our side even though it was obvious that she was not feeling well.

Part 2: One morning that summer she couldnt stand up so we decided to take her immediately to the vet. she had an extreamly high temperature and the cancer mixed with the high concentrations of her cancer medicine had caused her liver to fail. so that same day we had to put her to sleep and we lost our dog less than a year after she was diagnosed. she never showed us that she was in any pain and loved us and stayed by our side until the very end. we still have not completely recovered from her loss but we know that because she was the perfect dog we are still considering a goldendoodle of a different color when we are ready. so yes there are instances where goldendoodles can have cancer as demonstrated by our dog, but there are plenty of other goldendoodles that i know that do not have it. overall the goldendoodle is the perfect family dog.
