Miniature Australian Shepherd Question

We had a standard size aussie and she hated to go swimming. She loved trying to get a trout off the line in a stream while we were fishing and would wade in and splash around. However at the lake I would paddle her out in the boat and then dive in and have someone put her in to get her to swim with me. She wanted none of it. Swam to shore as quick as possible and then went and hid. Every time. Maybe you want a bird dog? Lab?

That along with bed time will make it difficult to find activities between. Mini Australian Shepherd's are very active dogs and if they are not properly exercised they will become destructive.

My parents have two aussies, one hates swimming and the other loves it. My brother also has two and they both love to swim. Usually that involves playing fetch with a frizbee. A friend has two toy aussies and one loves to swim and the other would prefer not to but does if necessary. Similar to people, it just depends on the dog.
