I asked this question 6 weeks ago but no one sadly has ventured any advice. I really would appreciate your educated 'best guess' even if you've not had direct experience. The question: I have a 30-month old neutred cat who is not afraid of dogs and is cautiously curious about them. I am considering adopting an older Yorkie (3 - 6 years old) whose history I will likely know nothing about. I don't want the cat to feel displaced in 'his house' or in my affections. What advice can you give me? Thank you.

I have had my yorkie for 8 years now and his best friends have been cats the cats love him, our one cat who was his best friend unfortunately died and he got depressed for a couple of months but now seems to be doing fine, it only takes the cats about an hour to warm up to him and realize he's not going to eat them he just wants a cuddle buddy and cats are best for that

How does the dog do with cats? If it's friendly with cats you are less likely to have a problem, but some yorkies will chase and try to fight with cats. So that will make a big difference in how it will work out. Usually an only dog or cat has a short period of time where they are jealous, and then they become buddies with the new addition.
