Corgi Ears up...When does this happen and does it always happen? Our Betty's ears were up at 8-9 weeks and were the greatest ears. Looking at pups again we see many with floopy years...is there a standad and do the ears come up?

The ears on a corgi go floppy in adulthood when the ears are played with when they are a pup. As the capillaries inside the ear are fragile when they are a pup rubbing them too hard can damage these and prevent good blood flow that enables the ears to remain upright in adulthood. So if you want pointy ears don't rub or play with them when your pet is a pup.

It is perfectly normal for a corgi puppy's ears to go up and down at first. Some puppies will have them up at 5 weeks and never put them down. Some will have one up and one down one day and then switch. Some will have them up and then drop them. If a puppy gets overweight, it's ears will droop. When it teeths, it's ears will droop. There is not set proticol and no time limit. However, by a year, the ears are usually up for good. If they droop after that, there is usually an infection or injury.

We raise smaller corgis 17/22 lbs grown ...their ears stand at about 4 weeks and then go up and down (we call this bad ear days) as the growing process happens ...we have noticed the bigger the pups the longer it takes as the ears grow larger with the pups growth and they have to have time to learn to support themselves...just wait !
