I have a 3 year old weimaraner - whenever we leave, he will bark non stop no matter how long we are gone for. Also when we take him to the river for a couple of hours we will bring him home and take our other dog to the river he will get upset and start to bark again. How can we get him to stop barking. PLEASE help!!

Sounds like seperation anxiety. I have 2 4 yr old weims both of them rescue..You need to go back to basic training and teach him and reward him for good behavior...start as simple as going out the door for a few second then minutes etc...and reward him with treats for not barking and correct him when he does...weims are extrememly stubborn but also love love love their humans and i would guess hes rather put out that your not taking him with your other dog...they are pack animals where you go they go. Why are you not all going together to the river as a pack?

we take them one at a time because our other dog is an older dog. An can't move as quick when playing so he get's moody when the younger one gets in the way.

We have a 11 yr old weim. From day one he hated the crate or even being alone. still to this day will bark none stop the whole time we are gone. Our vet said there is a term for this but dont want to affend anyone so wont say what it is. Its rude. But I looked it up its what they really call it. All I can say is give him something to keep him busy while he is alone. My dog likes his mr kong with peanut butter in it.
