Is there such a thing as a long haired Vizsla? I went to a lecture and the woman had a red, wire haired dog and said it was a long-haired Viszula. I have never heard of one or seen one before BTW I have been in the dog business for 30 years.

The long haired Vizsla is extremly rare. While it can be born in either the smooth coat or Wire-haired coat litters it is a very rare event. Out of the types I prefer the Wirehaired Vizsla.

My grandfather got a vizsla and there was a long haired sibling the breeders gave to me on the promise never to breed her. She was beautiful, smart, and in many ways my first child:) her name was Payton and she lived to 14 and it took me quite awhile to grieve her passing. Long haired vizslas pop up occasionally in litters but it is a rarity. I would love to happen upon another:)
