I would say it is because vizslas are more rare than most other hunting dogs. Most of them have been brought over from over seas in the recent past.

#1, You can get puppies out of them and #2, many feel that females are the better hunters.

Smooth coated Vizsla's are not as rare as their wirecoated counterparts it's just not a lot of people know about them. They are active dogs and need lots of exercise. I come from the puppy mill capital of the east coast so the fewer people that know about Vizsla's the happier I am

We have a female Vizsla that was bought from a German breeder for 700 EURO. Her nine brothers and sisters were the exact same price except for the pup that went to the sire's family to use for hunting (which was a male). Females are harder to house train but from anyone I have ever asked - they are also the more affectionate of the two sexes.
