Tosa Inu Question

I have a Tosa Inu for 4 years now and he couldnt live with other dog (neo mastiff), they have been fighting every day, though he is calm with very small breeds. Im sure Tosas can live with other dogs in a household as long as they are introduced at the young age, Laura

I am a Kennel owner/operator, and I can tell you first hand Tosas can be whatever you make of them. Our dogs are unshakable guardians that double as kid's "ponies" on the holidays. You will have a hard time trying to find a better family dog. Sometimes it is easier with younger dogs to get them socialized and sometimes it is not, that depends on the dog. But the ultimate factor is whether or not you're gonna tolerate dogs that don't like other dogs. In this kennel, we have Tosas from Korea, Japan, The U.S., and Europe, and they all come to the same bottom line: If the dog thinks it's the leader it will make up it's own rules and live by them, which may include bad manners with other dogs. If the owner is the authority figure, they make the rules, and one of our first rules here is dogs can't start fights. Our Tosas have lived with my mom's poodles, my sister's labs, and other family member's dogs just fine.

We have puppies all over the country living with dogs as small as 14 year old Chihuahuas and Yorkies, and as big as other Mastiffs. Some of our puppies even live with cats! The bottom line is always going to come down to what the leader will tolerate. If you're the leader and you make a no fighting rule, you can even have 10+ Tosas eating next to each other without so much as a growl like we do. If the dog is the leader then you asked a good question and the answer is anyone's guess.
