We purchased a Silky puppy. Our vet told us today that he is not a pure breed. His front legs are curved not straight. We are having a DNA test done. The breeder said he is a pure breed, He is 4.5 months old and has wire hair. We were told it could take 2 years for his adult coat to come in.

The front legs is a show quality fault. As a pet I should not be a problem. The original cross between the Yorkshire and the Australian terrier will occasionally produce too much coat like the yorkie and a shorter coat of the Australian. The ideal coat is 1/2 way between. The shorter coats do take a couple of years to grow out. Unless you were purchasing a show quality dog it is not a concern The Silky coat feels more like our hair
