I have a 10 yr old male shih-tzu and just purchased an 18 month old Yorkie but think she is silky. She is aggressive toward my shih-tzu or territorial...literally leaps at him. I'm afraid of him lashing out as he's a little temperamental himself, what can I do to prevent this? Thank you.

Well you always want to introduce the new family member to the current family member. somewhere. where neither one is familar with surroundings. so they are not territorial. that way no one is staping on the other one paws. they both dont want to feel like they are being replaced or loved more or less. Remember they are like children. You have to teach them and show them that we all are family and no one is going anywhere. dont force them to get to know another. take them to a park with a new toy. neither owns it and let them learn to play with another. correct bad behavior. award both when they are getting along. they will grow to love another. time and patience. Good luck.
