I got a shiba inu from a shelter. I have a german shepherd, both males. Hardest dog to train, i have ever had. I think after 1 1/2 years, we are finally at a point of understanding. The dogs get along great. The problem I have is, when my young grandchildren (ages 2 & 3) come over, my shiba inu acts like he wants to tear them apart. I can't let him around them. This is a problem, any suggestions.

No negative reinforcement at all! Only positive, which requires creativity. Lots of praise whenever the shiba inu does NOT do what you feel is bad. Also, it is critical to be exceptionally firm from a voice perspective. Daily reinforcement of training with treats is very important to maintain. I recommend at least 10 tricks be taught as well to keep training from becomming a chore.
