We recently lost our sheltie of 16 years. We want to get another sheltie but can't find one nearby. Is there a problem with shipping a puppy? What should we look for and how is shipping done? We don't want to harm a new puppy but we are concerned. Any suggestions appreciated.

As long as the puppy is healthy it can be shipped on an airline just fine. Several of my pups have flown on airlines with no problems. I believe the 12 hours of emotional stress much easier on the pup that several days of ground transport (that can be the same price) and expose the pup to a lot more disease. Since the drivers will be getting in and out of the vehicle several times during the trip. Regulations for flying pets require temperature controlled areas in the cargo hold, feeding and watering every so many hours, protection from weather extremes while on the baggage trucks, and other safety measures.
