My schnauzer is 9 years old, and has the ugly habit of peeing in his and my other dog's food and water. He also has a peeing disorder of some type; constantly pees on everything, even, if he has nothing to pee out, he still lifts his leg in front of everything he passes, and pees, even if it's five drops! Suggestions?

Take your schnauzer to the vet to make sure he does not have a bladder infection...if he is healthy and this is just a habit, 1. If you have other dogs around, he may just feel like he has to hold his "place" in the pack as he ages and mark...buy some male dog bands and have him wear them when he is inside. discipline him when he lifts his leg. I never tolerate marking in MY territory..to discipline him, keep a short leash (tag about three inches long) on his neck. when he marks, pull upward..tell him no and put him outside. Make him stay outside even if he cries and bangs at the door to get in...they are stubborn so you have to be more stubborn... Keep the male band on him until he gets the message. They are a pain but will save your furniture etc. also wash everything he pees on with vinegar to get rid of his previous scent or he will remark.
