My male Samoyed is 5 months old (will be 6 months on 8/7/12). As I expect at this age, he is gangly and adorable :-) but his coat is still "short" for a Samoyed. He looks more like a bleached Husky! I've seen many videos of older Samoyed's with big "manes" and flowing fur. Is this normal? And what age will he "fluff out"? :-)

Well the first thing I would ask is where did you purchase your samoyed. Some breeders dont breed "correct" Samoyeds and they do not have correct coat. They look like white german shepherds or white siberian huskies. However, Samoyeds should have a full puppy coat and then start growing in their adult coat about eight to ten months. Since he is 5 months he may be right in the middle of the transition. What ever he look like as a puppy at 7 or 8 weeks is what he should look like as an adult.
