My year old poodle just started her first heat. She's also my first dog! Can you tell me how long her flow might last? And should I have her spayed sooner? Or let her go for another cycle?

You could have had your poodle spayed as early as 6 months, so since she is older anytime is fine. You could also have her spayed while she is in heat, it just costs more. The average heat cycle can last for about a month. She cannot actually become pregnant while she is bleeding it is right after the blood stops and it turns to a clear liquid that she can become pregnant.
