My 3 yr old poodle who was groomed every 2 months, fed excellent dog food, exercised usually daily and has all the attention one can give, he is also in excellent health in almost every way. But he has lost most of his white coat, and the new hair that grew in is strangely dry, different texture and the color has now become dominantly red with white on head, legs sides and tail. Have been looking for reasons for this. Poodle was checked by vet, changed to raw dog food, vitamins, fish oil. He is very active eats everything. By far he the most respectful dog I have ever had personality plus, gentle soul. Anyone have any ideas.

I had the same thing happen to my white standard poodle some years ago. Sebatious Andonitus was thought to be the cause, she was the most loving of all the dogs I have owned( all standard poodles) and lived till 17 years of age. but she was pretty bald by the time she was five, but she didn't know I told her she was the queen dog.
