it's not that he's being picky as much as he views you as pack leader and in a pack the leader eats first then the others get a share. what you can do is offer him his food at your meal times and not give him any of your food. it's hard to resist the face he'll give you but you have to and it may take a while for him to get the clue as he's been doing this for so long.

I had (well I still have) the same problem. And everything the previous reply said is true. I think, they really wait to see when we eat then it's okay that they go ahead and eat too. And of course, she wants what I'm eating. Best way to prevent it, is never feed them what you eat. But I just can't help it, she stands there and stares at me, then shifts from foot to foot, as if her feet are waiting while she's waiting for me to "give her some of what I'm having". So it's kinda my fault, but she only eats one brand of dog food, and I know she must get tired of it, so I can't help it.
