I have a 6 month old Pomeranian puppy and have been advised by the vet that it is best to have her fixed prior to coming into heat for better health in later years. I had wanted for her to have at least one litter. But, now am in doubt. This is our first inside dog.

If you are interested in breeding and want to have at least one litter, wait. I have heard of dogs being fixed at a later age.

Your vet is correct. If you do not want your Pomeranian to have puppies, get her fixed before she comes into heat the first time. Each time she comes into heat is a greater chance for ovarian cancer. So if she is not going to have babies, do not take the chance.
