I just purchased a Pom. Angus is around 3 months old and is shedding all his hair. He seems perfectly fine and happy, but not at all pretty. Is this normal or is a vet visit in order?

Thats pretty normal, two out of my three pomeranians did the same thing at about three months and their coats grew back nice and fluffy afterwards.

All dogs will blow their puppy coat before the age of one. The hair they have as puppies will all fall out and adult hair will take its place.

They call this the "puppy uglies" stage.

VIEW MY PUPPIES


I rescued two pom's who had been flea bitten. One of the Pom's hair was missing in spots, you could actually see her skin. I cleaned, treated and brushed their hair every other day and I used antibiotic ointment treatment on those spots. A few weeks later, the hair has grown back and the dogs are doing great, In fact, if you see them, you wouldn't believe they were the pups I rescued. I got them when they were 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 mos old. Now they are 7 and 8 mos old.
