never. The listed AKC colors are black and tan, red, wheaten/red, or grizzle. Never brindle. Never red with dark tips as adults. Never cream or white.

Keep in mind that "red with black tips" is also know as a grizzle. Brindle, a NO NO color, is brown with dark stripes and is often a clue to the dog being a mix (usually of Cairn Terrier). Always buy from a reputable breeder in this breed. AKC (American Kennel Club) is a good way to make sure your pup is a purebred. Another way is to buy from a Norwich Terrier Club of America member. You can find that club listing on the AKC website. ~Carol
