Just adopted a Karelian Bear Dog about 3 weeks ago, about a week after our little girl developed a bad rash. We have had a German Shepherd for quite some time, and was wondering if the Karelians fur,or dander, differs from other breeds and could be causing this? We are concerned because it seems to be getting worse not better, and have had her in to the Dr. and they give us no answers. Any help is appreciated!

I can't really answer your question butI would suggest calling a Karelian Bear Dog breeder. I know there is one in the U.P. of michigan. I hope it isn't the pup causing the problems because you should feel lucky to adopt one, we've looked for months and have had no luck. Good Luck

Typically Karelian Bear Dogs do not have much shedding nor dander. I would not think it was that but ask you doctor to have your daughter tested for allergies. Also, did you change detergents or feed her something new? Enjoy your Karelian. They are really great dogs but one always needs to be one step ahead of them! Good luck!

Karelian Bear Dogs have an undercoat that is unlike most dog's fur, but my mom is very allergic to animals and didn't really have a problem around my dog.
