Are jindos good with kids?

Are jindos good with kids?

My jindo saved my son from a dangerous situation. My dog came and got my attention when my 2 year old son fell into a small creek at an outing. I would recommend this dog to any family. The jindo is very loyal and smart.

We have a jindo that is nearly one year old. At 7 months he was gently playing with our grandaughter, who is the same age as him. He will let her hold his chew bone, wave it around, etc. He'll gently take a hold of it and tug. Sometimes he wins, sometimes he lets her win. She can take things from his mouth. If she is playing with smaller things and throws them he fetches them and brings them back near her. He is very focused on our family and appears to love everone very much. But he is very watchful and barks at anyone or anydogs outside that do not belong. He is the most thoughful dog we have ever had.

A Korean family in my neighborhood owns three jindos. The dogs live outside and are contained by only an invisible fence. Two other dogs in the neighborhood have been attacked and seriously wounded by the dominant dog in their "pack." The family's daughter was also bitten by this dog. Read the notes on what this dog is bred for and use your intelligence. It is bred to hunt. Please don't get one of these dogs if you have small children around or if you will not be responsible enough to secure them with a physical fence. Frankly, I see no reason to own one of these animals as a family "pet."

Jindo dogs will have a special bond with children if the children are respectable.
