Would a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog scare away intruders? Because, its normally the dog with black and tan markings that scare people away. But since the swissy has white on it, would it still scare people, to walk on property with a swissy on it?

We own a Greater Swiss. He's only a pup now but I can tell you when we went to purchase him and his very large father came bounding around the corner to greet us, both myself and my 6 foot tall husband jumped back in the car. In a picture you would think their markings make them less intimidating to intruders but face to face this isn't so. No one in the right mind would walk onto a property with a Swissy roaming around.

They are very intimidating. Their coloration being mostly black does give a psychological scare to most people. However, their size and build would give even the most experienced dog people a moment of pause. My swissy is 125 lbs, and his chest measures over 40 inches. When he sees strangers, he will run up to them at full speed--- growling, howling and barking, and all his hair stands on edge. For that not to scare someone, they would have to have a death wish.
