We have a great pyrenees we adopted from a rescue. He's a male approx 15 months old. He has a great temperament but gets really hyper when we play and bites. It's not hard and it's always during play but it's still a bad trait. We've tried NO and putting a toy/bone in his mouth but he really wants to play with us and biting seems to be part of that. Does anyone know an effective way to stop this behavior.

As with any dog that chew shoes and things left on floor - spray area that he tries to bite with spray deodorant, the drying effect will curb the behavior

we have the same problem. our guy is 10 months, and while he's gotten so much better, he is still very mouthy and so cheeky with it. he was a horrendous nipper from 8 weeks until about 6 months and now is much gentler, but still tries to grab at us with his mouth whenever he gets excited. he gets a stern 'no' every single time and we also use a spray bottle, which helps alot. any 'stronger' methods severely backfire with him...it just gets him more hyped up. people have told us to scruff him, roll him etc. all of which we tried when he was very young and it did not deter him at all.

My GP responds well to me just turning my back to them and ignoring them. This has workrd well with both jumping and nipping. I have 3.
