Great Dane Question

Neutering a Dane Puppy

My Dane is 9 months old and weighs in at ~ 130 pounds. I think he is probably old enough (and big enough)to be neutered, but I'm not sure if I should wait longer. I know that the time would be right for smaller breed dogs, but I'm not sure if a Dane's growth and develop, ent would be affected Can anyone give me advice.

The longer you wait on neutering the better for the Great Dane's growth. He needs the hormones (which you will be taking away) to develop his bones, organs and muscles. Recent studies find that too early a spay/neuter are resulting in increased cancers, hip and joint problems and kidney problems. I recommend waiting till at least 15 months, but longer if you can.
