I have a 5.5 month old great dane. She normally is playful and hyper, for the past couple of days she will just lay on the floor or sleep a lot more where as she would be being her playful self. Is there something serious that could be wrong?

Danes sleep a lot. Plus a growing puppy needs tons of rest. My dane sleeps 80% of the day. As long as she is eating and using the bathroom i wouldn't get too worried.

Considering her age, she probably is just in a growth spurt which requires more sleep. You will always be able to tell when this is going to occur as they become lanky, a little skinnier looking, start to want more food, and sleep more often. Shortly after this occurs you will see them grow in height, and everything will equal back out again. As to her being hyper, she needs obedience training, and to be given a job to do, silly as it sounds, danes need purpose, it could be something as silly as taking a toy for a walk around the house, but returning to you after it is done, all part of good obedience training. Danes get bored very quickly as young pups, and you need to put that energy to use doing something, otherwise they become bored destructive and chew everything in sight.
