A great dane generally needs a high protein diet, as they are one of the fastest growing breeds, and need the protein to support this, and sweet feed is way too low in protein. I own both danes and horses, and the dane likes to steal the horse feed. A little bit of horse feed will not kill the should they get into it, but they should be on regular dog food to stay healthy. Hi-protein dog foods are better though, for puppies especially.
