I have a 10 week old great Dane puppy. She is very loving, but when she decides to PLAY she is very mouthy. I am covered in scratches and a few have broken skin. I want to stop this behavior before she gets too big. I have also heard they are very sensitive so I am trying to balance stopping this with being calm and authoritative.. Any tips? She has learned sit, come, and is potty trained. I have had her for 3 weeks now.. Thanks

this is a simple problem that can easily be resolved, especially with the great dane being a puppy. try teaching it the command "No Bite." or "Wrong." when you say "no bite" say it very firmly and gently close its mouth with your hands, as this mimics what its mother would do in correction to biting. don't be too hard, don't be too gentle. you need to be calm AND firm, especcialy for a big dog. she needs to know that she is NOT allowed to bite. hope this helps.

I agree with the other answer with NO Bite- I hold their mouth shut with both hands just for a second and say in a firm voice- No bite, No bite. You will be surprised how fast they learn what No bite means. Has worked for me every time.
