I have had one female golden retriever live to 14 1/2 years. One of her female pups died at 10 years of a blood disorder. I also had a male who died at 10 years from cancer. I see 10 years as a real milestone for Goldens who tend to develop cancer at that age. If they get past 10, they can live another 3 - 4 years.

I have had 2 Goldens. Casey passed away at age 4 of cancer. Bailey passed away at age 9 of cancer also. Large breed dogs don't tend to live as long as smaller dogs.

It depends on how heathy the Golden Retriever is. If it is sick from a sickness just take good heathy care of the dog and it will live more then you think it will in your head.
