Sometimes all it takes it further research.

A good breeder (one who is in it for the dogs and not the money) will make sure that the dogs have a good home to be placed in. Don't be surprised if you are looking into a particular breeder and they ask you questions about your lifestyle and what other animals you have in your house etc. Most of the time a good breeder waits to actually breed their dogs until they also have owners lined up for the puppies as well.
