I have never had a Fox Terrier, but researching the breed, and I noticed that it says we are to strip the fur once in awhile. How often does this need to be done and how/what is stripping? Thank-you for your time and answer. Sonya

Stripping the fur means plucking it by hand or with the help of a stripping knife. It needs to be done three or four times a year in the case of pet wire fox terriers. As the hair is loose it's a painless procedure for the dog. It's not true that wires don't shed. As the hair lengthens some will fall out. Brushing and combing tends to remove the soft undercoat rather than the top wire coat. Stripping preserves the color and texture of the coat whereas clipping will result in a soft, curly and faded coat.
