I've been thinking about buying a Toy Fox Terrier and would like to know if they are good for...


I've been thinking about buying a Toy Fox Terrier and would like to know if they are good for children around age 10. I also would like to know if they are good lap dogs.

I got a tft a month ago. And so far he has been a great lap dog. He follows me around wherever i go. And gets along great with kids.

I have a new TFT pup, and have had another TFT female. These dogs are very versatile - if you want them to stay in your lap - THEY WILL and they will love it. If you want them to go out and take walks, hike, etc, they will do that too. Right now my 7 mo old is sleeping on my lap while I am on the computer :)

I have a 4 year old Toy Fox Terrier and although she is good with older children, she has definitely nipped at smaller kids. I would never have a child put their face directly into her face, especially as a surprise because she will bite. Otherwise, she is so loyal. Follows me everywhere! She loves long walks and to be cuddled. She is sound asleep in bed next to me now and every night.

I have a toy fox terrier who is about 12 years old. He does not really like being around small children. He will nip at small children if I don't watch him. He is defintely a lap dog. He is always curling up in my lap. I have had him since he was a puppy and he has always been a loyal little guy. He does tend to follow me around where ever I go.

I was raised with five toy fox terriers ( we bought one and she was pregnant and we kept the others). They are fiercely loyal to their owners and families and are WONDERFUL with small children ( personal knowledge) if you treat them with respect. Even though they are tiny, they are amazing watch dogs and will keep your children safe by alerting everyone of an intruder. I am saddened that people are claiming to keep small children away from them. I was two when we brought Penelope home and she was with me until my junior year in college. My whole dorm mourned her passing because she was such an amazing dog with spark. Toy fox terriers can teach your children a great deal about standing up for yourself, respect and loyalty. If someone seemingly threatened me as a child, Penny would leap in the air and bark at them. ( strong muscles in their tiny legs!!) Give them a shot -- they are a big dog in a lil dog body and very sparky.

I have a Toy Fox Terrier and my son grow up with her since he was 4 and now he is 11 and my daugther is 13, and yes they are good with kids and they like to sleep with people, but they like to protect people if you hit somebody that she loves she would want to bite you. You cant have them outside too long like about 20-25 minutes its ok for them and give them ice cold water.

I have a 6 year old daughter, my Toy Fox Terrier is still a puppy. Only about 6 months or so. She is a great little dog. She gets into all the small things but lets the little one hold her all the time. She also loves the 2 cats Ihave who are bigger than her and plays with one of them like she is a cat. However the big dog mentality is there. She listens best to me as I'm the main one who feeds and takes care of her so will follow me everywhere. I trained without a leash and will never go anywhere. And I'm not a little dog guy but she grew on me and hope to add a big dog to the family with her and the cats

Toy Fox Terrier's are wonderful around older children and make great lap dogs. That's what they are for. But they do like to play.

I also have a tft they do get along with children around age 10 ! Five years and under they dislike...

Toy Fox Terriers have always seemed to love children of all ages as long as i have had them they have all been around infants to young adults no problem
