I HAVE A 14YR OLD MALE SPRINGER I LOST HIS BUDDY LAST YEAR, HE HAS BECOME A BIT AGGRESSIVE. I AM GUESSING HE MAY BE HURTING, HE HAS HIP DYSPLASIA AND UNABLE TO PLAY BALL AND W/FRISBEE LIKE WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT MAY HELP. ALSO HIS HEARING IS BECOMING LIMITED. HE RESPONDS TO HAND AND ARM SIGNALS WHEN HE SEES ME. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

See a vet about those hips but don't expect much. There are also remedies advertised on television. I had a great SS put to sleep due to hips just before age 14. My only consolation is that he was around the company of people he liked every day and walked and taken outside each day. DOGS ARE SOCIAL CREATURES!

I have both a chow and a springer spaniel that have hip troubles. We give them shark cartilage and after about a month there was significant improvement. We also switched to a dog food called simply nourish and it put the pep back in their step. Now they prance around and even play a little. Im not saying it will make them act like puppies again but it definitely helped with their hips and gave them a little energy boost.
