I am having a weight issue with my 15 month old english pointer. I used to over feed him in hopes of getting him to put weight on but all that happened was he had more bowel movements.. 7 or 8 times a day. I am under the impression that they should have a bowel movement once or twice a day. Although he seems to be completely healthy he is just really skinny. Doesn't matter if I feed him his recommended amount of food or if I over feed him. The only thing that changes is his bowel movement.. Should I be concerned? How can I get more information on this?

I have a five year old english pointer who first two years was a skelton with a skin graft and to this day is nicknamed krapper, he has been fed on gluten free kibble for at least a couple of years now. The dog has gained wieght and looks good. Bowel movements have reduced but not to once twice daily. I also leave a bowl of feed down as pointers are not genrally food orientated.
