I have a 4 year old male English Bulldog. He continues to use the bathroom in my house. In reading question and answers, I saw where "crate" training was a suggestion. Is he too old to try and get this problem in check? I also read where they can be acting out from lack of attention. I work 5 days a week and he is alone in the house during the day but receives plenty of attention from me after I get home and on weekends. Any suggestions??

If you start crate training you want to start slow with short amounts of time and much praise.Leave the house for 30 minutes and return happily. Praise for just being in there. Maybe there is a room that would work better. Is he neutered? He may be marking territory and "protecting" the space given him. They protect what is given him. I do train my pups for the crate, but graduate them around a year old. They don't like to urinate in their space and learn to hold it in up to 8 hours. I"m not a huge fan of longs stents in the crate day after day. Hopefully, this works out.

Thank you for your response! No he isn't neutered. Would this help the problem?
